Employee Spotlight: Spencer Aalbregtse

By Jara Rowe, Content Marketing Specialist

Meet Spencer Aalbregtse, one of our Account Executives!

In your words, what is your role at Trava.

I am an account executive with Trava. It's basically my job to be the first annoying face that everybody sees from Trava. I'm the one who's going to call you and see if we're a good fit or if you have a good need for us.

Describe Trava in 3 words.

I would say inclusive, challenging, but very fun.

Where is your happy place?

Can I give three?

One is Wrigley Field in Chicago. It's honestly my absolute favorite place on earth. Two would be Deer Creek Music Center right across the street from my house. You're going to find me there on the majority of summer and fall nights, listening to live music. And then the third would be any new brewery that pops up. I love to spend time trying new drinks.

If you could give your 13 year old self advice, what would it be?

It definitely would've been to listen to my parents. My parents were great, gave great life advice and tried to help me along the path, but as a 13 year old, all the way up to probably 25 to 30, I was trying to figure things out on my own. Where if I would've gone back and listened to some of the advice, things would've been a lot easier.

What is your favorite motivational quote?

Yeah, I got a kick out of this one because most people probably wouldn't consider it motivational, but it's by J.R.R. Tolkien.

"Not all those who wander are lost."

What has been your favorite project at Trava?

The first annual Travathon. It was really cool as a new member of the team to get to work with the different departments. And honestly, I probably learned more in that little, two weeks going through that exercise than I did all through training and stuff. So it's definitely my favorite.

Cats or dogs?

Probably as recent as two years ago, I would've said dogs 100%. Always been a dog guy, always have dogs, still do. But my kids are older now and all of a sudden my wife and I have all this freedom, so I've kind of switched to cats because it's a lot easier to go on a little weekend adventure with cats in the house than it is finding somebody to look after the dog and let the dog out and do all that kind of thing or board the dog. So as I've gotten older, I've started to transition more to a cat person.

What’s your favorite color?

Oh, blue all day. Cubby blue man. Cubby blue.
